Green and Local

MIDLAND, MICH - The builders working on the 16,006-square-foot Ieuter Insurance Group building at 414 Townsend St. are using a number of products from local companies to help make it energy efficient.

Owner Cal Ieuter said it was important to the company that green products and local products be used when possible. The building is expected to receive certification through the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.

Excellent Safety Practices Pay Off For Area Contractor

Three Rivers’ President and Chairman of the Board Dan Kozakiewicz Named as 2009 JA Business Hall of Fame Laureate

MIDLAND, MICH - Dan Kozakiewicz, President and Chairman of the Board of Three Rivers Corporation, was inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame on October 28 at the H Hotel in Midland.

The JA Business Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding business leaders who have demonstrated excellence through their contributions, not only to the business world, but also to their communities. Honorees, nominated by members of the community, are elected for induction into the Hall of Fame by a consensus of past laureates.

Green elements get green light in Ieuter project

The new Ieuter Insurance headquarters going up at 414 Townsend St. is going for the green. Energy-efficient elements outlined in the building’s site plan, which goes for its final approval before the Midland City Council on Monday night, include a bike rack, employee showers and changing rooms, low-flow toilets and motion-triggered occupancy sensor lights.

The MTI in partnership with Macomb Community College offers participants an opportunity to be recognized for their educational efforts and increased technical expertise. Safety directors, safety coordinators, and safety committee members attend a series of courses that help them develop the knowledge and skills to improve their company’s safety and health system.

Three Rivers Wins National Award for Dow Diamond Construction

MIDLAND - Three Rivers Corp. has received one of the nation's most prestigious building awards for its construction work on Dow Diamond, home of the Midwest League's Great Lakes Loons baseball team.

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) announced this week that Three Rivers has won its National Excellence in Construction Award.

Kozakiewicz succeeds 2007 Board Chair James Struble, President of RCI Electric in Farmington Hills, who will continue his service on the ABC board. The announcement came following the annual meeting of ABC.
